Assuming you have or can make FAT12/FAT16 partition and access it in DOS,
I have a solution: http://zfjavs.fuw.edu.pl/~jt/boot/n/boot-emu.zip

The program writes bootrom image plus some code to the partition as
a file 'bootfile.bin', and puts own boot sector (original is saved
in the file), allowing you to boot from the image, or boot DOS
from the disk, if you installed any in the partition.
