I get this error but it does not seem to stop anything from working. I
am using kernel 2.2.14 on a PC-Chips M741LMRT mobo with davicom nic.

run tcpdump on the server to check that the client is actually attempting
to talk to the portmapper and (if it is) check that the replies look
ok.
