smc ultra (8216) bootrom problems

Hi,

I'm having problems with booting SMC Ultra (8216) cards via bootrom.

Details are....

The rom image works ok via floppy.
The rom image sucessfully boots SMC 8013's quite happily. (all 14 sofar :)
The rom image (wd.rom) supposedly works for both 8013's and 8216's

ROM-SCAN.EXE reports:
"Found ROM header at D800:0000; announces 16k image (27C128 EPROM)"

When attempting to boot, it just skips over the rom and attempts to boot
from floppy. 

Any ideas/hints/suggestions?
