It's probably the RTL8139 driver hitting the limits of the 32kB area
and experiencing memory corruption problems.  Try building it with no
extra options at all. (No, I don't see any obvious way to decrease the
footprint of the RTL8139 driver, it requires large buffers and at least
a certain number of them.)
