Try changing main.c:712 from:

                if (iskey() && (getchar() == ESC)) longjmp(jmp_bootmenu,1);

to:

                if (iskey() && (getchar() == ESC))
#ifdef	EMERGENCYDISKBOOT
			exit(0);
#else
			longjmp(jmp_bootmenu,1);
#endif

and let me know how it goes.
