I'm using netboot version 0.7 and it works just the way 2.0 -series did, 
no problems.

This is a rough idea how I do it:

 - make kernel
 - run  mknbi-linux -d ram -i rom -r ramImage.gz -k bzImage -o bootImage
 - install & boot the just created bootImage
